How to Make an Old Couch New Again!

Today is rainy and chilly and I just wanted to do inside things.
So I did!
Mostly a lot of boring kitchen cleaning, but I also did a little DIY project I have been wanting to do.

Let's jump right in !

Body Shop

EEEE, I went a little crazy on the Body Shop website.
Luckily, I had a good excuse.

I have heard about cooling lotions and really wanted to try one out.
As I discuss in this post, the summers are really hard on me.
I am really hoping the cooling products I purchased will help with some of that!

So here we gooooooo!

Hi guys, let's get weird!
I feel like I've known ya'll long enough to discuss my underthings.
Right?
Probably not.
Oh well.

Chair Update

Last summer I found a directors chair on the curb.
It was missing the fabric parts and my boyfriend insisted the wood was broken.

He just didn't want to pick it up and knew he would be forced into cleaning it.

After a lot of begging and reminders of how cute I am, he begrudgingly put it in the car for me.

I feel like I may have made him pick up a little too much "trash" that summer.

A few days later we (he was right, I forced him to help) cleaned it up and I made a new cloth seat and back for it out of this insane upholstery fabric I picked up at a house sale for $1:

Isn't it so perfect in the creepiest way?!

Here is the final product:

So cute!
It just goes to show you that taking the time to fix up someones trash can truly create a treasure.
Let me know of any great curb finds you've had and what, if anything, you did to jazz them up!

Maybelline Eyeliner Review

Hey everybody it's Meagan again, and I'd like to tell you guys about an
liquid eyeliner I've really been liking lately.

Its Maybelline Line Stiletto.
The applicator is felt tip which is much easier for me to apply than a brush, but you dip it into the liquid so it doesn't get dry and pull at my eyelids while applying.
I have it in brown which works well against my pale skin.

You can draw a thin or thick line and its easy to control. This is the only eyeliner I have tried that I've been able to achieve a cat eye with. It goes on smoothly and builds nicely if you want to go over a certain spot or make the line thicker. It also comes off with soap and water or make up remover wipes pretty easily.

Kitchen Decor

I just wanted to share with you guys my adorable kitchen jars.
They are just some mason/candle jars that I put cute stickers on and filled with cooking staples.

One of those "cooking staples" is black jelly beans...

They are so dorky, but I think they make the kitchen so much cuter.

Let me know if you like these and if you guys
have any great kitchen decor tips
on a tiny budget!

P.S. You can see these jars featured in this post about a diy lip scrub.

Quick and Cheap Wall Art

Trying to make a college apartment feel homey can be difficult.
To liven up our hospital-white walls my roommate and I wanted to hang some artwork.

Unfortunately, we have no money.

Luckily, my roommate's parents were getting rid of their old record album frames.
My roommate snatched them up and a brilliant idea was born.
We decided to put scrapbook paper in the frames!

DIY Lip Scrub

No, I don't want no scrub. A scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me.

Wait. Wrong kind of scrub.
HOW EMBARRASSING.

Anyway, Here is a super easy and cheap lip scrub recipe!
All you need are these ingredients:

If you can't tell by my bitchin' jar labels this is granulated sugar, coconut oil, and olive oil.

A Day in the Life.

Grab a snack kids, this one is a little long.
The doctors tell me fibromyalgia symptoms are the worst in winter.
Apparently, I'm a freak because summers kill me.
Today got to 80 degrees and I am dreading a full summer of this.
The pain is the same as it is all year but the neurological symptoms get so much worse.
I want to take you through how a warm day feels for me.

DIY Tablecloth

I live in a college apartment.
It can be a bit dreary, but I put a lot of work into brightening it up!
For example, this super easy bandanna tablecloth I made.

DIY Nightstand

I spent the summer gathering/creating furniture for my new apartment.
I knew I wanted a nightstand in my bedroom but I couldn't come up with the perfect thing.
Then, I was creeping around my family's garage and found an old step ladder than probably couldn't hold a human.
I stole it and cleaned it off and fell in love! It was a hideous color so I hit it with some spray paint and wallah, the perfect nightstand was born!

Exposed Skin Care Review

Hi guys, it's Meagan again!

I want to tell you guys about a fantastic acne product line that I have fallen in love with.

A Savior for Dry Hands

We had a record breaking winter this year. The temperatures were crazy low and the air was so dry.
It also appears the winter will never end. It got to 80 degrees today but its supposed to snow again on Tuesday. It is insane.

ELF Brush Reviews

I like to keep my make up simple.
I just want to cover up what I need to, arrange the rest properly, and get out of there.
I was always a finger-application girl but have been trying to branch out a bit.
I have tried a few ELF brushes and wanted to provide a few reviews for you guys.
First, I want to say I have tried 2 brushes from their studio line and I do not recommend them. They feel harsh on the face and the hairs fall out all over!
The professional line  is a whole different story! The ones I have tried are so soft and don't shed at all. I absolutely love them and prefer them over any other brushes I have tried.
My absolute favorite is the kabuki brush.

Curious About Candles?

With all my neurological symptoms I always figured candles were a bad idea for me.
Also, my father is a firefighter so they were forbidden at home.
Recently, I have found some candles that don't trigger my symptoms and have gotten a little candle-obsessed.
I hope to review some candles I have tried on both the scents and lasting power as well as the effects they have on me. I know everything affects everyone differently but it may be nice to have some information before purchasing.
The candle I am going to talk about today was purchased during the Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale for four dollars. It came in such a cute jar I couldn't pass it up!

Revlon Foundation Review

Hi, everybody! Guest poster, Meagan, here.
I am roommates with Tails by Daisy's lovely Rachel. We keep an adorable apartment and parent a dapper dog together.

She has invited me to guest blog every once in a while about my favorite products and crafts.

This post is about the best foundation I have ever used. Ever.

Diagnosis - Fibromyalgia

Searching for a diagnosis is difficult and tiring.
Being diagnosed is no different when it is something that isn't curable.
I am 21 and have been feeling progressively worse since I was 13.
That is a really long time.
This winter I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
I thought having a name to my problems would make them better, I was wrong.
It made me feel even more hopeless and I landed in a pretty dark place.

Toner Review

I was super skeptical about this toner.
Whenever I have tried to use toner in the past it has made my skin super dry so I tend to avoid them.

Why did I pick this up then?
Well...
I had seen this line from Boots (UK Brand) being sold at Target and really wanted to try one of their products. At the time I was really loving the face wash and moisturizer I was using so I decided to try their toner.
I am so glad I did!
This stuff doesn't irritate my skin at all, and it removes makeup that I didn't even know was still there after washing my face.
In a nutshell, this toner just makes my face super clean without any irritation.
For less than $5 this is a product I definitely recommend and will purchase again!

In fact, I am almost out so I better make a Target run.
(I always have an excuse to make a Target run)

Let me know if you've tried this toner or know of any other good ones!
I've been thinking about trying to use apple cider vinegar as toner,
has anybody tried that?
Let me know.

Meet Daisy

This is Daisy.
She is the namesake for this blog because she is all about yarn, food, and beauty.
As a crotchety old woman, Daisy appreciates the Grandma things in life, just like me.
This pretty princess is Tails By Daisy's mascot and biggest fan.
If you want her love and acceptance you'll need to follow this blog and fill out a few dozen pages of applications. She is very picky but is trusting me to find her some awesome followers.
I'll leave you with one more beautiful photo of Miss Daisy.

Cake Commentary

There are few things in life as simple and sweet as the Wegmans bakery.
No matter how my day has been going, walking by the rows of bread and desserts makes everything okay.
It also makes me need bread and chocolate.

After a day off from classes spent at the doctors, my roommate and I treated ourselves to the Wegmans Mini Ultimate Chocolate Cake. I may have also gotten myself a loaf of bread.
It is fine, I deserve it. I am a fairy princess. So are you! Eat some cake, life is short.

That is all I have for you right now! I'll just leave you with another picture and a ringing review that this cake is even better than it looks.

Q & A a Day

I came across this journal while procrastinating last October. The design of this book allows you to answer a question a day, everyday, for 5 years. The questions repeat on the same day every year, allowing you to reflect on the changes occurring in your life and within yourself.

It quickly became a part of my daily routine, allowing me to reflect on my day or write down a quick answer to a silly question.

During a time of my life that is filled with turmoil, this journal has allowed me a few minutes each day to just focus on myself and answer a question. I am not a journal person, I have never been able to keep one for more than 3 days. I am now in my sixth month of using this journal and going strong.

The thing is also just stinkin' adorable so I love setting it out to casually look like a journal person who has her life together.

I am fooling no one.

Obviously, I am a huge fan of this journal and recommend it to all my friends and family.
I have already given the children's version as a gift and plan on making my boyfriend start the couple's version in the near future!
If you want to check this journal out for yourself, you can here.

Paper and Pearl Processional

My brother got married last May and our family gained my wonderful sister-in-law. It was a quaint, simple ceremony at a local park surrounded by friends and family. A lot of the wedding decor was homemade so I contributed by creating the bouquets myself and the other bridesmaids would carry. I worked with a friend to create them and I think they turned out beautifully!

Fake Food Flashback

Nearly a year ago, one of my favorite little girls turned 2. As she is the only little munchkin in my life, I spend most of my crafting time working on projects for her (2 year old girls are a lot easier to crochet for than my old man).
I figured I would share some old images of a few of the crocheted gifts I made for her! I hope you can use these for inspiration in your own crafting adventures!

The doughnuts and strawberry patterns were made up by looking at pictures but the cheeseburger pattern can be found here: Nerdigurumi.
